Vishaka, Nirbhaya, Damini ?…….No it was our Pride

Standard

Amid the ongoing debate on the cause of rape and precautionary action to be taken to prevent Awarenessre-occurrence of such incidence, it can be seen that everyone has its own opinion, its good every one must think on it and apply their mind to find a concrete solution. But there is a school of thought who blame women for all those incidences. They raise their finger on the outfit of women being raped, some of them raise questions on the timing when the woman was raped, other raise questions on her state of mind, some also blame on her parents.

  • When women wear revealing outfit that school of thought say that it is influenced by western culture. I say let it be influenced by any culture of this world, are you the treasurer of the Indian culture. OK you think so, don’t you? But why do you remember your culture only when women wear revealing outfit, where is your wisdom when someone pass lewd remark on women in front of you. You won’t raise your voice at that time rather enjoy…….. because the fact is that you only wanted to have an excuse to defend your wisdom, you are not worried about any culture. If you are of the opinion that whatever you think is the Indian culture, my friend you plan a trip to Khajuraho.
  • Timing, some wise people say that she should not have roamed on the street at 2 am alone. Others say she should not have drunk and come out of her home at night. Yes, I also agree on this point my friend but only till the time people having your type of mentality is in existence. Is this universe at night is meant for male only or you are decent and honest only till the time you don’t have the opportunity. And please! don’t you enjoy roaming on the street after having two little pegs, so does she, where’s the problem. If there’s any problem that’s with your mentality, just grow up baby.
  • Parents, no parents want to put their daughter in front of those rapists. But yes, all parents want to see their kids to be happy in whatever way she wants. So far she is not committing any offence, not hurting anyone, it’s welcome. Who are you to say that her parents have given her unnecessary freedom? Even if they did so, that’s none of your business, my friend.

It is true that until the society changes its mindset these incidences will keep repeating. But the mindset of society will not change overnight, it will take at least next two decades, even then it’s not guaranteed. Meanwhile we need adequate system and implementation of rules and regulation with full strength to safeguard women, to safeguard our pride.
